Like many people, I have a toddler that likes to get into anything and everything just because he can. Since he could crawl he's been fascinated with cords and outlets, which is obviously problematic. While boxes like this can be found on for between $10 and $20, I figured I'd tackle the problem myself using 3d printing.
This includes 3 items: a wall plate, a cover box, and a locking bar. The wall plate is meant to replace the wall plate you already have sitting over your outlet. The box then goes over it, and gets locked in place with the bar. There is a hole in the bar to allow for an actual padlock if you have a toddler like mine that's not so easily deterred by a simple box.
On less dimensionally accurate printers the cover may be a tight fit, but with a little smacking it should snap into place. With a more precise printer such as my P1P you may find the tolerances little loose, but that shouldn't be a problem with the locking bar.
